Mark van Mechelen

Mark finished his 10th year of triathlons this year with Ironman Lake Placid (4th in his age group) and at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in October!

His first brush with endurance sports was the mile swim, as a cub scout hoping to get as much chlorine time as possible, to fight back against vast swarms of chiggers encountered during a camping trip gone awry in the swamp near Lafayette, LA.

His favorite food is Trader Joe’s frozen cherries or Scott Jurek’s Minnesota winter chili.

Despite having grown up in Houston, Africa, Lafayette & Indonesia has a difficult time in hot, humid conditions. But, through the help of the 4D coaching staff, he is showing remarkable improvement!
